Need an alternative monitoring system for your production team? Check out the Teradek Serv Pro and Link for your next production.
The Serv Pro is a wireless video product made specifically for monitoring with iOS and Android devices on set. A hardware device that streams live 1080p video wirelessly, the Serv Pro allows you to connect up to 10 devices running the Vuer app. Each feed is viewable at just 2 frames of delay. The same feed also includes a stereo audio signal embedded within the stream. On the back, it has both HDMI and 3G-SDI inputs plus an ethernet port for routers and DC in.
For a mobile setup, Serv acts as the master WiFi access point for your iOS and/or Android devices. Ideal for run-and-gun, highly mobile shoots, this workflow allows you to keep your equipment to a minimum. You will get up to 300ft of WiFi range from Serv, as well as a single video feed to monitor on up to 10 devices.
Bringing the Vuer app and Serv together on set is Link, a dual-band WiFi router. It supports the latest in WiFi standards and is backwards compatible with 802.11 a/b/g/n. Once each Serv and iOS/Android device connects to Link’s WiFi network, the Vuer app will automatically detect the incoming video feeds on your devices. In other words, Link is a great addition to your multi-camera productions, allowing you to view up to 4 separate streams at one time. With 1000ft of range, Link offers enough WiFi coverage to blanket most medium-sized venues. Amazingly enough, Link is also able to withstand the daily abuse common in production environments with its super rugged chassis. Not to mention, Link is available in multiple mounting options plus your choice of a Gold / V-mount battery plate. All in all, Link simplifies the networking experience to ensure optimal performance with minimal setup.
The Serv Pro is intended to give you an encoded video feed which you can easily stream on your iOS/Android devices. It’s not meant for your 1st AC or your director. But, just imagine… It’s a great tool for client monitoring and video village. Our client Fauzee demonstrated the perfect example of how his team used the Teradek Serv Pro and Link on set. Check it out below!
Armed with only an iPad and the Vuer app, they were able to monitor wirelessly thanks to the 2 units of Serv Pro and a Link. As mobility was crucial for this shoot, going light was their biggest priority. With a strict time frame and multiple locations to shoot in one day, they used external battery adapters to power up the Serv Pros and Link. At the end of the day, it was a great day of production for Fauzee and team.
